Girl Scout Programs

The Challenger Learning Center offers a variety of badge and Journey workshops. Scout out the options below and contact us at (314) 521-6205 or info@clcstlouis.org for more details.

Dates for each Girl Scout program are listed below.  If you are unable to attend the date that is scheduled, you will need to schedule a private program.  Information on private programs can be found at the bottom of the page.  If you would like to sign up for one of our Girl Scout Workshops, please give us a call (314)521-6205.

Brownies

Space Scientist (Our Own Council Badge)

Become a space scientist for the day at the Challenger Learning Center. Participants will practice their communication and problem solving skills through a series of team building activities, build a rocket, and work together in a hands-on simulated space mission. They will engage in activities similar to astronauts and scientists on a mission to Mars, the Moon or a comet.

Space Science Adventurer Workshop

Join us for an exciting adventure through space to learn about our planetary neighbors, explore the stars, and investigate Earth’s Moon. Participants will visit our planetarium, create constellations, and go on a mission to the International Space Station in search of new objects in our solar system.

This workshop is designed to guide Brownies through the Space Science Adventurer Badge. Brownies will complete steps 1-4. Step 5 requires them to share their new space knowledge with others, and while we are unable to complete this step during the workshop, we will help the girls brainstorm different ways to fulfill this step within their communities.

Journey Session – WOW! Wonders of Water*

Make the Challenger Learning Center part of your Journey. Learn about water conservation, the water cycle, and the importance of staying hydrated. Participants will complete three requirements for the WOW! Wonders of Water Leadership Journey–part of the It’s Your Planet-Love It! series. Includes a  mini simulated space mission to discover water in our solar system.

Program length: 3 hours
Cost: $25/Scout

*The patches for this Journey Session will need to be purchased by the Troop Leader from the Girl Scout Shop.

Juniors

Space Traveler (Our Own Council Badge)  

Become an experienced space traveler right here on Earth! Learn about Mars, comets, or the Moon, make plans for your journey, and apply your new knowledge by flying a simulated space mission to study a comet.

Space Science Investigator Workshop

Come explore space with us as we map out our solar system, go on a scavenger hunt through space, and discover how scientists learn about other planets. Participants will visit our planetarium, create a solar system model, learn how to navigate the stars, and go on a mission as Mars Pioneers in search of water and life on the red planet.

This workshop is designed to guide Juniors through the Space Science Investigator Badge. Juniors will complete steps 1-4. Step 5 requires them to share their new space knowledge with others, and while we are unable to complete this step during the workshop, we will help the girls brainstorm different ways to fulfill this step within their communities.

Journey Session – Get Moving!*

Make the Challenger Learning Center part of your Journey. Explore the world of energy by studying your “carbon footprint” and learning some creative ways to recycle. Participants will complete four requirements for the Get Moving! Leadership Journey – part of the It’s Your Planet – Love It! series. Includes a simulated space mission. Participants will earn the Investigate and Energize awards during the workshop. The Innovate Award requires them to share their new knowledge with others, and while we are unable to complete this step during the workshop, we will help the girls brainstorm different ways to fulfill this step within their communities.

Cadettes/Seniors

Simulated Space Mission

Program highlights include a hands-on simulated space mission where scouts will experience activities similar to those performed by NASA astronauts, scientists, and engineers. Participants will refine their communication and problem solving skills through team building activities to prepare for their space mission.

Girl Scout Overnight Program

Spend the night at the Challenger Learning Center and become an experienced space traveler. Learn about working and living in outer space while flying a simulated space mission. Activities also include a movie and popcorn before lights out! Program is available for Juniors, Brownies, Cadettes, and Seniors.

Program time: 7pm – 7am
Cost: $45/Girl Scout (program requires a minimum of 18 participants, maximum of 25)

To schedule a private program please call (314) 521-6205.  We ask that you provide a first choice date and a backup date in case the first choice is unavailable.

Private Program Cost:

Brownies & Juniors $675 (max 20 scouts)

Cadettes & Seniors $750 (max 30 scouts)
