Teen Workshops

Workshops are run by Boeing volunteers and other community partners, and are open to students ages 12-18. Workshops are free but spots are limited and pre-registration is required. Drop-off and pickup from southwest wing entrance of STEAM Academy.

Rocketry Workshop – 9:30-3:30

Build and launch a low-power Estes model rocket. While you wait for glue to dry, make some some other fun rockets too! (Lunch break from 12:00-1:00.)

Sphero Robotics Programming Workshop – 9:30-12:00

Drive Sphero robots and program them to properly and safely navigate an airport-themed course.

Make & Take Robots Workshop – 1:00-3:30

Use batteries, motors, and every-day supplies to make several simple-circuit robots.

Arduino Coding (Tentative) – 9:30-3:00

Use Arduino microprocessors to program an “airplane”  to light up and spin its engines in the right sequence. (Registration will open once volunteer co-leaders are confirmed.)

Volunteers are needed to run activities, help with sign-in, and more! No experience necessary: Those willing to learn how to run activities will be trained ahead of time. Boeing employees should sign up at the employee volunteer portal. Everyone else should sign up to volunteer here. Lunch is provided.
Volunteer shifts:
Morning: 8:30-12:30
Afternoon: 12:00-4:00
All day: ~ 8:30-4:00
Can’t do a full shift? Let us know what you CAN do, and we’ll find a good role for you.
